Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is a naturally occurring antioxidant necessary for energy production. It is deficient in some overweight people, and supplementation has been shown to improve many conditions associated with aging. Deficiencies are most likely to occur in tissues that require a high energy level, such as heart muscle, periodontal tissue and the immune system. CoQ10 status may be adversely affected by treatment with certain cholesterol lowering drugs, beta blockers, trycyclic anti-depressants and phenothiazides.
Suggested Use: As a food supplement, take one to three capsules a day, preferably with meals, or as directed by a physician.
